Collaborative Reporting Fellowships

The Collaborative Reporting Fellowships will fund specific reporting projects between minority- and majority-language media professionals on topics of public interest. The projects can take numerous forms including investigative journalism, features and news analysis, as well as projects that incorporate digital storytelling techniques and audio-visual media. The reporting fellowships include a residence element that will allow minority language media professionals to spend at least two weeks working alongside colleagues at a host majority-language media outlet.

There will be three application periods for the Collaborative Reporting Fellowship in 2021. The third and final application period opened on 18 August 2021 and closed on 27 September 2021.

Professional Placement Fellowships

The Professional Placement Fellowship supports custom short-term work placements or study visits by minority-language media professionals at majority-language media. The fellowship is open to all staff members of the media outlet, including journalists, editors, photojournalists, newsroom managers, social media managers, community managers or staff focused on digital innovation. Regular freelance contributors are also eligible. It can be used to support collaborative skills and knowledge exchange on various aspects of the newsroom, including news reporting, digital transition, business models, audience engagement and community building.

The third and final call for applications for the Professional Placement Fellowship was open from 18 August, 2021 and closed 27 September, 2021.
